A bush doof for people who know. Psy and melodic trance from sundown till whenever, a laser show, a fire, and a private valley where nobody is going to ask us to turn it down.
The idea
Hive Mind is a free, private gathering put on by Glen, Drew and Alex. Three hundred acres of flat paddock in the hills, three hours north of Sydney, with the whole place to ourselves. Sixty people, a couple of DJs who know exactly what a Saturday night in the bush needs, and a laser rig that has no business being at a free party.
Lineup
Friday is arrive, set up, get the fire going. Saturday the rig comes on at dusk and the lasers come out after dark. Sunday is recovery and the river.

The site
Need to know
There is no shop, no power point and no one to ask. If you need it, it comes in your car.

Flat grass paddock, drive straight onto it. Tents, swags, vans, campers — anything under 14 m. There’s a covered area with a big table for the small tents.

None. Generators are fine and the rig runs off ours. Bring your own lights and a battery for your phone.

Taps on site fed from a creek tank — good for washing up. Bring what you’ll drink, four litres a day each.

One pit toilet for the site. Bring your own paper. Self-contained vans, you’re golden.

Fires are allowed and there’ll be a big one. Bring a boot-load of wood. If the RFS calls a ban that weekend, there’s no fire — no arguments.

Leave the dog at home. It’s a working farm with cattle and horses, sixty strangers and a laser show — not a weekend for a dog.

Upper Hunter. Roughly 3 hrs from Sydney, 2½–3 from the Central Coast, about 2 from Maitland or Newcastle, 1 from Muswellbrook. Sealed road to the gate. The last fuel stop and the pin come with the map.

Assume none. Tell someone where you are, agree a meeting point with your car, download the map before you leave.

We’re not putting it on a page. Tell us who you are and who invited you, one of the hosts checks, and the map lands on your phone.
